Therm-a-Rest Base Camp Sleeping Mat Review

This is my 2md Thermarest mattress. I got about 20 years of great service out of the first one. It held air fine until I left it fully inflated in a closed trailer for a few hot summer weeks & the air expanded until it leaked. My fault. I learned to leave the valve open when storing. Or just roll it up when not in use. I really can't complain about it.

So I bought another. This is the most comfortable camping mattress I have ever used. My back really loves it! Washable. Also it is ridiculously tough! In my college days I camped many times on sharp rocks or even broken glass, but the Thermarest air mat never had a problem with that.

These things are so great because they almost inflate themselves! When you are making camp, just unroll the Thermarest & leave it with the air valve open. Go do a few things & come back & give it a couple of puffs & close the valve. All done! Really easy! Just remember not to store it fully inflated in a hot place with the valve shut!

About Therm-a-Rest
In 1971, Seattle aerospace giant Boeing announced the largest layoff in company history, resulting in 50,000 people losing their jobs. Among the jobless were Jim Lea and Neil Anderson, both engineers who were eager to get back to work. Therm-a-Rest Trekker Lounge 20 Review

I really love this chair. It gives all to right support in the chair formation and quickly converts into a sleeping pad. There is even a place to stash my pillow keeping it clean.Really insulates nicely from the cold ground. One minor complaint about storage and transport. The instructions requires that you remove the support "wires"in order to roll it up perpendicular to the wires. Beside the wires being difficult to remove, I know me, I'll loose 'em. So I don't remove the wires and roll it the other way in parallel with the wires. Once I do this the straps you'd use to secure the bundle are useless thus necessitates a separate rope or strap to secure it. Thermarest, is there anything wrong in your pad folded in thirds and rolling it up the other way? Can you please sew in straps thatsupport securing the bundle roll up perpendicularly? Removing the support wires are a hassle.

Exped SynMat 7 Pump DLX Inflatable Sleeping Pad Review

The mat inflates quickly (less than 5 minutes).The built in pump is great, and prevents particles or moisture from entering.
The mat provides a very comfortable bed.It insulates very well, and you don't have to worry about it getting wet, compared to the down version. It is like sleeping on a cloud or your own mattress.

Contrary to the other reviewer, this is very rugged, and comes with material for making repairs.
It is important, as with all mats, to store in a much larger container, and not to leave it compressed.

Therm-a-Rest ProLite 4 Self Inflating Mattress Review

I used this mat once now, I find it very narrow and I am not a big person.I love the color and it did not slide around like other mats I've had but because it was so narrow I found myself off of the mat a lot throughout the night.I have a larger map that I will continue to use for car camping but plan to use this mat for backpacking (very light and compact).

The Thermarest chair sleeve for the mattress is great, super comfortable and useful, but it seems like it just makes it that much easier to put a hole in the Thermarest mattress because they are very sensitive.

Thermarest Luxury Map Air Mattress Review

Fantastic mattress - extremely comfortable.I find that it is sufficient to merely let the mattress inflate by itself and doesn't need any additional air input.

Therm-a-Rest Trail Lite Review

This thermarest is much better than my husband's extremely old ridge rests, which are what I was used to sleeping on. On this, I can sleep on my side comfortably. It inflates quickly, in just 1 minute, and rolls up and deflates easily also. I chose to go with the trail lite rather than the pro lite because of the large price difference. This was around $40 cheaper. It is definitely good enough to suit my needs, and I used it backpacking.

Wenzel Closed Cell Camp Pad (Royal Blue) Review

I purchased this as an exercise pad and for occasional camping use. As received the pad surface was a bit marred though not in a way that impairs its use. The pad surface is soft and it appears that it will be rather easily damaged.The Wenzel charcoal grey mat appears to be essentially the same product at a similar price (sometimes lower). The grey pad seems less likely to show the cosmetic marring if that is a concern to you. Just buy whichever color is lower priced at the moment unless you prefer the bright blue.

These mats are a good value at a price in the range of $8 to $10. Curiously the Amazon prices have fluctuated and gradually increased from $7 to about $20.
